Part I Of Ave's BirthDAY: San Antonio Zoo

This post is LONG overdue, but better late than never!

For Averi's actual 1st Birthday, which landed on a Thursday (May 31st), David took off and we went and spent the day at the San Antonio Zoo. It was so much fun and Averi did exceptionally well! She loved looking at all the animals (minus the reptiles), and even picked out a monkey souvenir before we left. The monkeys were her favorite (probably why she chose the monkey in the gift shop, when given a few animals to choose from), and the reptiles were for sure her least favorite. Anytime David would try and show her them, she would start to cry and cling to his neck. All the animal watching finally wore her out, but she got a good nap in while we walked around the bird exhibit and was well rested for part II of her birthday DAY. I was snapping all the pictures so didn't get too many of Averi and I, but did manage to come out of the day with one of her and I, and one of all three of us! Better than nothing! Part II of her special day will be in the next post, so be sure to check back! You won't want to miss it! ;-)

On another quick note, we finally took Averi in for her 12 month checkup and shots (at 14 months). She weighed 23 lbs, and was 33 inches tall. In the 50th percentile for weight, and 90th percentile for height. And I know, percentiles don't mean much. That isn't why I post hers. I post them merely so that I can look back and read them later on down the road and know where she was at this point. Anyways, Doc said she looked perfect, a happy and healthy baby girl! She has been getting real milk since she hit twelve months, and same with actual foods. She does great with her hard spout cups, and we are almost completely weaned off the bottle. Ave started walking at about mid to late July and is now a walking machine! Anywhere we go, she would rather be walking. And when it comes to our walks, the wagon is so much more hip to ride in than the stroller. She knows all sorts of words, animals, and sounds now, and loves doing hand gestures when she sings and dances. And let me tell you, this girl LOVES to sing and dance. She really is such a smart kid, and I don't just say that because I'm partial. Ask anyone that is around her! We love her so much and thank God everyday for her. She brings so much joy and happiness to our lives, and to the lives around her. She is and will always be our precious little angel.

The first two pictures are from her 12 month checkup (at 14 months), and the rest are from our Zoo day! Enjoy and come back to see the rest of Ave's special day!

Patience pays off, and I am finally a full time employee for Texas AFT! I cannot tell you how incredibly excited I am! I have worked for the company on a temporary basis over the past 10 months, and was really   hoping for the opportunity to be brought on permanently. After what seemed like an eternity, I figured it was time to "throw in the towel", and just continue the job search. About a week later, I was offered a full-time position! I guess patience pays off! I was once again reminded that God's timing prevails, and not to doubt that He has a plan for me. Things will happen when they are supposed to, not when I want them to.

A little info on the job, for those of you curious:

Texas AFT is the Texas State Affiliate of the 1.3 million-member American Federation of Teachers and represents more than 57,000 members statewide.
The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is an American labor union founded in 1916 that represents teachers, paraprofessionals and school-related personnel; local, state and federal employees; higher education faculty and staff, and nurses and other healthcare professionals. It is affiliated with the AFL-CIO.
The AFT is the second-largest education labor union in the United States.

If you couldn't already tell, I am thrilled to have been offered this opportunity. I enjoy going into work, and love the people I work with. I couldn't ask for a better place to start a career. And, in addition to actually enjoying my J-O-B, having a second income with excellent benefits means new and exciting things for our little family! It is SUCH a blessing.

A big thank you to everyone who kept me in your thoughts and prayers during my waiting (and hoping) for this opportunity!

Wedding venue & park pictures!

I have had a couple people ask me over the last few days where we are getting married, and I just love that question! I am so giddy about where we chose to have our wedding that I just love sharing it with people! We decided on The Winfield Inn in Kyle, TX. It is absolutely breathtaking, and just so US!

We had looked at several places, from Austin to Dripping Springs, to Kyle and beyond. We liked a few of the places, but nothing really jumped out and grabbed us until we went and saw The Winfield. I, of course, loved Kali Kate in Buda because of all the horses, but it was a little too rustic for David. When we visited TWI, we both knew right away that it was the venue for us. Our wedding and reception will be outdoors still yet so very elegant. If you haven't yet, go take a look at the pictures on the Winfield website, via the link above and tell me what you think!

Now, onto some pictures from our playdate with Krista and Brayden at the park this evening! We went and walked the park at Old Settlers and stopped and let the babies swing half way through. It was Brayden's first time, and he just LOVED it! Averi of course, was happy as a clam, being quite the swing lover herself.

And, a few randoms I took of my little angel. Those eyes are still looking pretty light to me! Come on Lord, keep her eyes colored, for my sake at least!

Some of the pictures are a little on the blurry side, but I thought they turned out neat. Still getting to know my camera!

So Close!

The days are flying by now, and I get more and more excited with each passing hour! I remember going to my first bridal extravaganza the DAY after we got engaged, and feeling entirely overwhelmed. And now, here we are, 2 months until our wedding, and many bridal extravaganzas down! I can't say that overwhelmed feeling is completely gone but it has subsided a little.

The next two months are going to be super busy for us, but we could not be more excited! With upcoming showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties, bridal portraits (which I am so so excited for), tastings, classes and so on and so forth, the time will fly by even more so than usual. I can't wait to be with all of our friends and family to share in these special moments with us. And, even more so, I absolutely cannot wait for the big day! It is going to be such a fun and beautiful day, I'm absolutely sure everyone will have a blast!

I cannot wait to see all of our hard work and planning come together, from the decorations to the dances, from the food to the photos,  from the attire to the massive amount of love that will be present throughout it all, and so much more! My dream day is so close I can taste it. I get to marry the man I knew was meant for me from the day I met him in computer class, my sophomore year in high school. We couldn't be more perfect for one another, and yet complete opposites. I thank God each and every day for David.

A big thank you to all of you that have loved and supported us, we can't wait to share our special day with you! See you in October!
