Our Story

Well, I met David in 2004 when I was a sophomore and he was a senior at McNeil High School. We had web design class together taught by Mr. Wetzel. Lets just say that I was more of a quiet, keep to myself type of student, who got to class on time for the most part and did my work in class. David on the other hand-- Ha, he was definitely the social butterfly, talk to anyone and everyone, showed up to class when it was convenient for him type of guy. I distinctly remember him rolling his chair over to my computer during class one day and randomly striking up a conversation. Of course, me being the shy type I was, I could feel my cheeks getting hot and turning bright red. How embarrassing! Needless to say, I ended up going off campus with him and his buddy to get lunch (which was against the rules for us, sophomores!). From that day forth we continued to talk in class, and eventually began to spend time together outside of school. I had the biggest crush on him and he had no idea. We never ended up dating in high school, and he graduated May of 2005. I went to his graduation and that was the last we saw of each other for quite sometime. Fast forward now to 2008-- I received a message in my myspace inbox (yes, this was myspace times) from David, asking if I was still alive and if I still stayed at the same place. I cannot explain that feeling when I saw his name.. I hadn't heard from him in almost 3 years, and knew nothing about what he was up to. Yet, I was so curious. We messaged back and forth a few times and ended up meeting up about a week or so later in a Walgreens parking lot. We talked for hours, he showed me where he lived and we got caught up on what was going on in each others lives. It was after that we pretty much were with each other constantly when we weren't working. After two months of hanging out and spending time with one another, we FINALLY made our relationship OFFICIAL on June 12th, 2008! I was beyond ecstatic, what I had wanted for so long in high school was now becoming a reality. We've been going strong ever since that day. Don't get me wrong, we have had our fair share of arguments and disagreements, but they have all been so worth it. The past three years we have grown so much, not only as individuals, but as best friends, and lovers. I am such a strong believer in the saying, "If you love someone, let them go, if they come back, it was meant to be..." That was exactly how it happened for me. I am so blessed to have David in my life, as my soulmate and soon to be husband. He has helped me become the woman I am today. I have learned so much from him.. He is always so positive, even in the toughest situations. He puts the people he loves before himself, and always makes sure everyone is smiling. When he tells me that he supports me and has my back even in situations that he may not agree with, he means it. He has definitely shown me that Averi and I are his world and priority and that is such an amazing feeling. I feel that same way. I feel like I have everything I'll ever need in my life, with David and Averi. I am so excited to be able to spend forever with you, David. I can't wait for our next chapter in life. I love you so very much and am so thankful for all you do for Averi and I.

Roadtrip to Houston

For Labor Day weekend this year, we took a road trip to Houston for my Great Uncle (my Mom's uncle) Jim's retirement party. This was Averi's first road trip and also would be her first time getting to meet her uncle DJ (my favorite and only brother). We left on Friday when David got off work and carpooled with my parents to cut down on gas costs. We somehow managed to fit my Mom, Dad, David, Me and Averi (carseat and base included) in the trusty Toyota Camry. We also managed to fit all of our luggage plus Averi's bouncer, bumbo, boppy and playmat in the trunk of the car, thanks to my Dad and David's master packing skills. Moving on, Averi did wonderful on her first three hour car ride to Houston, I was so proud of her. We got to my Uncle Jim's (my Mom's brother) house, where we were staying at around 11pm. It was way past Ave's bedtime so we let DJ say Hi and then we fed her and put her to bed. The next day we actually got to visit and snap some pictures!

Ave started her day just lounging with her Great Nana and her Grandpa on the couch.

I decided to join her and see how her morning was going, by the looks of this picture, she was having a great time! (Don't mind my lack of makeup or nappy hair)

Sibling bonding time! (since we only get to see him once a year, ha!)

Averi winning over Uncle DJ.

He even let her wear his hat, what a nice uncle!

Then it was game time, the Aggies were playing and Averi came prepared!

One Aggie graduate, and one lil future Aggie!

The infamous "head sniff".

All the picture taking made for one sleepy little Aggie...

Later that afternoon, we all got ready and headed over to the other Uncle Jim's (both Uncle Jims live in Houston) for his "surprise" retirement party. We got to visit with out of town family and introduce Averi and Mason to those who hadn't met them yet.

Our little family at the party.

Me holding my nephew, and Averi's cousin, Mason, who was born exactly one week after her.

This was Averi and Great Uncle Jim talking to each other at the end of the party before we left, she absolutely LOVED him, as you can see from her big smile!

The next morning we went and had breakfast at Cracker Barrel, said our goodbyes and afterwards packed up to head back home. The ride back was a little more eventful due to all the detours we ended up having to take because of the Bastrop wildfires. Very scary, seeing and smelling the smoke so close made it very real and so sad. We made it home safely though, thank you God. And again, Averi was an angel on the long ride back. That about wraps up our Labor Day weekend, it was so much fun! I just love my family to pieces and wouldn't trade them for the world.

Ave and I ended the weekend sitting out by the pool back in Austin, while Mom, Dad, and David worked on the yard for my birthday get together the next weekend (which also ended up being the PROPOSAL!)!! Stay tuned for that story!

Project TuTu is a SUCCESS!

Okay, like I said in my previous post, I would update on how my tutu came out and.... It turned out SUPER cute!! I am so stinking excited and pretty darn proud of myself! I made my first one with hot pink and lime green tulle. My only mishap was using the wrong piece of elastic. I had cut the one I measured for Averi's waist and set it aside, then had to get up for something and forgot I had moved it to the side, so i grabbed the one laying on the bed which is a little too big for my baby girl's petite waist. Of course, I hadn't realized this until I was half way through with it. Oh well, I figure she will grow into it eventually! I will get a chance to make another for my younger sister for her Halloween costume, she is seventeen, so I'll get to try my hand at making a bigger one! I think I am going to start selling them, so if you have little girls or grandkids, or know of people with little gals, please tell them about me! They will be $12 a piece which is half of what I have seen them go for on places like Etsy, and Zulily. I know you are just anxiously awaiting the finished product picture, so here it is:

Not too shabby for my first try, right? Here is one more:

The flash makes it look less full, but don't you worry, this puppy is fluffy as all get out. And here is the last picture, since Averi isn't here to model it (she is at Grandma's tonight due to Mommy having strep), I used my trusty assistant:

My assistant just does not do my tutu justice, poor guy doesn't have a chance in modeling.

I think my next one I will try adding sparkle, and a bow. But for now, that's all. I have strep and need to get some rest for this weekend's pumpkin carving contest and festivites! Hope you enjoyed my tutu as much as I did making it! Thanks for reading!

Four Month Checkup (A little overdue)

Since Averi will be five months on the 31st, I figured it was about time for her four month checkup (remember, it's that procrastination thing). Of course the checkup meant it was also time for her four month shots, which I was dreading more than she was. I just can't stand to see her hurt, and those tears running down her lovable cheeks! As usual, she was talking up a storm while we were in the waiting room, not realizing what was to come.

After what felt like eternity, we were called back to a room. The nurse who has taken her measurements since she was a newborn was able to again take her measurements for her four month checkup, how lucky did we get!? The nurse told us probably five times in a matter of five minutes how gorgeous Averi was, how she looked like a gerber baby, and how she needed to be on posters and advertisements.  It was very sweet, to say the least. I mean come on, she IS pretty stinkin' cute!

Okay, okay, moving on, the Doc said her measurements couldn't be more perfect. At five months (close enough), she weighs 14 lbs, is 25 inches long, and has a head circumference of 41 3/4 centimeters. That makes her in the 50th percentile in all three categories! Wonderful news to us, first time parents! The rest of her checkup was great, and we got the okay to start cereal and solids (a little at a time, don't get too excited, MOM and NANA!). Our appointment ended with the dreaded shots, she had to have two actual shots and one oral immunization. Of course, Dad had to hold her arms while I stood in the corner, I just couldn't do it, it absolutely breaks my heart! After a couple minutes of painful crying, she calmed down enough to dress her and put her in her carseat to hit the road. Within maybe two minutes of starting the car, she was out. My poor baby was tired. She woke up about 30 minutes after we got home and she was surprisingly in good spirits. We watched a little bit of the game with Pops, Go Rangers! And then we played for an hour or two in her room, with her toys, bouncer, saucer, etc, etc. Needless to say, she got her warm bath, a little tylenol and her bottle and she was ready for bed. She has been snoozing for two hours now and I think I'm going to join her, it's past my bedtime!

PS. Thank you God, for my beautiful, healthy baby girl, and for the most perfect little family a woman could ask for! You are an awesome God, that is a fact!

TuTu Time!

Oh my gosh, I just love little tutu's, especially on my little princess! The only problem is that they tend to be a little on the pricey side when you purchase them from places like Etsy, Babies R US, etc, etc.. Fear not, I found a DIY tutu and am pretty excited about trying it out. I will post the finished product and instructions if it turns out cute.

Now for a little Bean update! Averi has definitely inherited mine and David's love of the outdoors, which makes going on walks at the park so much more pleasant with a happy baby. That being said, we went on our usual walk at Old Settlers park on Friday evening. We decided to put Averi in her "big girl seat," which is also just known as the front facing seat of the stroller, rather than her infant seat. Needless to say, she LOVED it. She was able to see everything around her and take in all the noises. I snapped a few pictures, because I just couldn't pass up that smile! Check it out!

Her little legs barely hit the edge of the stroller seat but that doesn't stop her! And check out her sweet striped socks!

And if that smile wasn't convincing enough, she gave me this one when I asked what she thought about her new views...
That smile just melts my heart every darn time!

The rest of the weekend was nice and relaxing, we went and saw a couple of houses and have narrowed it down to two or three. Our good friends, John and Allison came and hung out with us to watch the World Series game last night, always a good time! And today was church and then to my fabulous parents to get our bible study done for Tuesday. We ended this evening with a visit from the in-laws and Game 4 of the World Series, it was a very pleasant end to a relaxing weekend. Now that the baby is sleeping soundly, I think I also hear my pillow calling my name! Keep a lookout for my tutu, if all goes well!

stop growing, please!

My goodness, I just can't get over how much Averi has grown in four short months. It is almost like I have a hard time remembering how small she was unless I look at pictures. It seems like she was only that little for oh, a week! When people say, "Enjoy it, they grow up so fast," they sure aren't kidding. Averi already has her first tooth that has just BARELY broken through her gums. It is her top right front tooth (if you are facing her). I was so excited, and sad at the same time. My little baby girl already has a tooth! She has been very coordinated for some time now, and desperately tries to sit up by herself. She does pretty well, and as a matter of fact as I write this, she is sitting up in her bouncer by herself, just staring at me. She also loves her exersaucer, and playing with all the animals. She is such a good baby, I know we are so very lucky. Look at how much my sweet pea has grown!

She was two weeks old in this picture, isn't she just adorable?!

And this is my sweet angel at four months old! Look at how she has changed!

Speaking of, I must go feed the baby. She has had enough of my blogging for now.

clueless on colors

So, if you couldn't already tell, i'm pretty bad at procrastinating... At least I admit it, right? Moving on, I need to decide on my wedding colors, and it is quite the task. I have said for weeks now, "I'll sit down tonight and play with colors...yadda, yadda, yadda.". Tonight, I did just that, and I STILL am not positive! So many thoughts go through my head when I think I like a color combination, like, oh, that isn't very fall looking.. or, that wouldn't look good for an outdoor wedding. Ultimately, I know it comes down to what we like, regardless of season or venue. So, to give you an idea of what I have thought about, I really liked the thought of orange and purple. The two colors go nicely together and definitely has a more "fall" vibe. Here is a visual to really bring the combination to life:

Now, on the COMPLETE opposite end of the spectrum, I also really liked the idea of a black and white wedding. Elegant and simple. I would most likely use pops of a color here and there throughout (just one color, though). My block here is that it would look too elegant to be outside, but maybe not. I know there are tons of ways to decorate and make it just how I imagine it. I know we all are very aware of what black and white look like together, but I will give you an image just to compare:

Okay, so there we have it. My indecisive ways have gotten the best of me tonight and I still don't have my decision on colors! But at least everyone is now aware that I have, in fact, been pondering it. Tomorrow I plan to write all about the proposal, and mine and David's story!

xoxo goodnight to you all!

decisions. decisions. decisions.

Why hello there! I made this blog months ago, and tonight is my first post. Imagine that! I can almost guarantee that if you are reading this, you already know who I am and what I am about. But if for some reason you don't, I will fill you in. My name is Ashlee Rudisill (soon to be Mrs. Moreno!) and I am twenty three years young. I live with my pretty amazing fiance (whom of which I will say "I do" too, in EXACTLY one year!) who goes by the name of David. We also share our two bedroom, two bathroom apartment with our absolutely perfect four (almost five) month young daughter, Averi Elizabeth Moreno. She has turned our worlds upside down (in a good way) and shown us both the true meaning of Love. She has taught us so much in only four short months! I am blessed to be able to stay at home with Averi, to get to watch her grow and learn new things every day is so special. Now, on top of being new parents and trying to still have some what of a normal life, we are now planning our WEDDING! How crazy is that?! I am so excited, and overwhelmed, all at once. I am so indecisive and unsure of so many aspects of wedding planning BUT I know for a fact that there is no one in this world I would rather spend my forever with. That's the most important part, right!? So, needless to say, my blog will most likely be a lot of wedding planning, baby updates/milestones, maybe some recipes, pictures, yadda yadda... Okay, in other words, very random! I will end my short story with a picture of my new little family (don't mind my quadruple chin, i've only just begun the baby weight be gone process. i used to be skinny, i promise!).

(I know, go ahead and tell me... "Gosh, Ashlee, she looks JUST like you!")
